Mito Logo Animation
My first look at the logo for the Mitochondrial Research Guild of Seattle Children's Hospital revealed a tree with colorful leaves adorning the up-stretched branches. I envisioned a rainbow of leaves popping out on each limb, representing the hope one needs to overcome the challenges of life with “mito.” The various colors indicating that mitochondrial disease knows no boundaries of age, race, or gender.

When I looked again, I thought of a child with arms up stretched in an expression of hope and triumph. With that in mind, I created a marketing approach for the guild called the "
Gallery of Hope.” The core expression features a volume of photos of mito children in the singularly triumphant pose.

This idea was a challenge because Mitochondrial disease can affect kids in mild to severe ways. I learned that for some it is hard to have the bodily control or flexibility to reach arms above the head. Yet they all have triumphal moments. So, I tried it by coaching my new friend, Logan to raise his arms into the air just long enough to take the perfect picture. It worked and Logan was truly jubilant. As the
gallery evolves, the marketing concept will come together in the form of a new collection of collateral to help raise awareness for this amazing organization.

This animation was developed in Motion and split between the front and back of videos I produced for the 2021 guild fundraising event. Its purpose is to reinforce the brand of the guild and create cohesion between videos composed by different producers.
